Serious Business - Stillwater & Twin Cities Senior Photographer

Caroline and I got together again last weekend for a second round of senior photos (you may remember her from this post). Her first session was full of smiles and not too many serious expressions because, really, she's just full of smiles and that is what comes naturally. We put ourselves to the challenge of trying to capture a few serious photos. It was a challenge but we really had fun during the session, no smiles and all!
It must be close to Halloween we kept hearing things in the woods behind us!

I LOVED this field and the giant tree in the background I could have shot there all day. Add in the wonderful pop of color in her shirt and you get a perfect location! Thanks for joining me for a second session. It was fun!

Let us know what your think of her serious side. Even though smiles are definitely her I think she can pull off this look too!

Patrick {Class of 2011} - Stillwater, MN Senior Photographer

Patrick, his sister and I got together for Patrick's senior portraits on a HOT evening early this week. We walked around a good portion of downtown Stillwater looking for locations for the shoot. He did fantastic during even through the high temperature and humity! Patrick is a caddy at a golf course which I think helped tremendously. I have to say that I'm glad I wasn't the one being photographed.

Caroline {2011 Senior} - Stillwater, MN Senior Photography

I have known Caroline since she was two years old when my family moved into their neighborhood. I'm not sure when she grew up from the little girl that would sit on my foot and cling to my legs so I wouldn't leave their house when visiting and drawing stick figures with the arms coming out of its head to the person waiting to take in and enjoy everyday of their SENIOR year in high school. We got together in Stillwater to document this major milestone.

We had been waiting for a great sunset to use some off camera lighting. The great sunset we waited for never really came that night so I pulled out the lights in the parking lot and we played for a couple of minutes.
Here's to a fantastic year and ease in choosing a college!

Darren: 2010 Stillwater Area High School Senior

I was beginning to think this session would never become a reality. We had planned, in the spring, to take Darren's senior portraits in the peak of fall color. Once the color came to the valley so did the wind, COLD temperatures, rain and even snow! We would talk in the morning only to have it be raining once school was out for the day. A couple weeks ago we decided we would just do the session to make sure there were still leaves on the trees and we could still be outside. We were all pleasantly surprised when it was time for the session and it was warm and even sunny outside.

We began the session at Stillwater Country Club it was the perfect location! Darren is on the Stillwater Golf Team so we started with some practice and on the putting green.
and then tried our hand with synchronized golfing with Darren's boss from the Country Club. Shawn, thanks for taking a few minutes out of your day to get these fun photos!
We put the clubs away and took a cart out on the course looking for locations. The evening sun was perfect everywhere we went on the course!
After our time at the golf course we headed down by the St. Croix River to get some pictures of Darren and his bow.
To our delight the colors at the river were spectacular!! I absolutely love this photo! We worked until we didn't have any light left to shoot i. By the end of the session Darren said he really actually enjoyed getting his senior pictures done, something he hadn't been looking forward too, and was glad I wasn't the crabby old photographer he was expecting! I had to laugh at this comment (most photographers I know don't fit this description) and was also glad his experience was better than he expected!
Thanks for checking my blog. I hope you all enjoyed the photos!

Courtney: Second Shoot

You may remember Courtney from this blog post back in September of her first shoot, which was interrupted because of a rain shower. Our second shoot took place on one of the last warm October weekends when the leaves were still in full color. There wasn't sun or blue skies during this shoot either but we did manage to stay dry. This blog post is longer than usual but I know Courtney has been anxious to see these pictures! I hope you enjoy them!

When we were shooting the picture above I came up with a crazy idea of taking pictures with Courtney up in a near by tree. I jokingly suggested it because I never thought anyone would agree to climb a tree for me to take some pictures, but I was wrong. Courtney was up for anything to get a great fun shot so up the tree she went. It has been awhile since I posted a poll for you all to vote for your favorite photo. I have created a poll, which is posted on the right hand side of the screen, for you to vote for your favorite tree photograph. Each photo is labeled with a number in the bottom right corner.

We must have been a sight to see as she tried (successfully) to get down out of the tree :)

Courtney: Senior

I got together with Courtney last weekend to take her senior pictures. We had a fun and relaxed portrait session down by the St. Croix River in Stillwater. That is until she changed into her second outfit and it immediately started to rain! Because of the rain the last half of her portrait session had to be postponed. Check back again to see the second part of her session. Courtney and I will also be getting together to do two mini sessions in the fall and winter! I'm not ready for winter to come yet but I can't wait for our snowy winter session. Have a great senior year, Courtney!

Thanks for checking out my blog. Leave a comment let me know what your think of the pictures!

Ryan: Senior

It's been a while since I've blogged but that is only because I've been shooting and editing a lot of photos to share. Keep checking back over the next few weeks for more posts. We took these photos up at the Boomsite on a perfect summer evening! The sun was shining and there was no heat or humidity, great weather for a photoshoot.

Megan : Senior

Megan and I were able to meet up for her senior portraits, in downtown Stillwater, after postponing them for a week because of 90 degree heat and high humidity. This morning was perfect for portraits! Megan brought two friends along to the photoshoot, which created a relaxed atmosphere and they also helped keep all the wardrobe changes organized for us. The girls had a fun day planned for after the photoshoot. I hope you all had a great afternoon.

I just couldn't resist taking a picture of Megan's favorite shoes!
